ABOUT HONG FOOK

Hong Fook means “Health and Felicity” in Chinese. Established in 1982, Hong Fook Mental Health Association is the leading ethno-cultural community mental health agency with a consolidated culturally competent team serving Asian and other communities in the Greater Toronto Area. Hong Fook provides a continuum of mental health services covering the spectrum from “promoting wellness” to “managing illness” in Cambodian, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Korean, Vietnamese and English.

On behalf of the Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club, we are proud to announce that our 2023 Annual Charity Gala will be held on Saturday October 7th, 2023 at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel and Suite. The Annual Gala is our main fundraising event in fullling our mission to serve the community. is year we have designated the Hong Fook Mental Health Foundation the charity of choice for this year’s Gala.

Since its inception, the Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club has donated over $2.8 Million to a variety of charities, including health care, senior services, education, research, community services, cultural activities and worldwide disaster relief. Our annual gala had attracted participants from all walks of life, such as banking institutions, insurance industry, investment planners and government leaders. It is our sincere hope that you and your company will consider joining the many sponsors and community stakeholders in supporting our Annual Charity Gala. Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club (THKLC) is a member of Lions Clubs International, which is the largest and most active service clubs in the world. Currently it has over 1.4 million members in 45,000 clubs located in 200 countries and geographic areas.

Chartered in November 1986 and with a current membership of about 26 comprising of business and professional people from Hong Kong, THKLC has sponsored and supported meaningful projects locally and abroad.

In our 36 year history, we have raised over 2.7 millions in charitable funds and supported a great number of projects. Our funds have supported the Sick Kids Foundations, Sunnybrook Foundation, Kidney Foundation, Honk Fook Mental Health Association, Ryerson University Scholarship, University of Toronto Scholarship, Yee Hong Wellness Foundation, the Mon Sheong Foundation, World Vision of Canada, the Fu Hui Educational Foundation, Across-U-Hub Foundation, the Canadian Red Cross, Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, Ontario Food Banks Association, United Way of Greater Toronto, Royal Ontario Museum, Other Half-Chinese Stem Cell Initiative, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Distress Centres of Greater Toronto, Markham Stouffville Hospital, Carefirst Foundation and many other worthy causes in the community. Today is an opportunity to celebrate our contributions to the community while contemplating the work that still needs to be done.

ABOUT TORONTO HONG KONG LIONS CLUB

Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club was formed on November 3, 1986 in Toronto. Under the auspices of Lions Clubs International, 54 Chartered Members set out to meet the challenges of Lionism by answering to appeals for humanitarian service, disaster relief and vocational training. Most of the members have come from Hong Kong with diverse backgrounds including in consumer and retail businesses, manufacturers of industrial products, computers, electronic equipment, garments, food products, insurance agents, restaurants, and real estate developers, etc. There are also members from professional disciplines such as financial advisors, accountants, architects, doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc.
